You will be able to determine the meaning of the colors of the animals that you encounter, and investigate the meanings of places such as lakes and mountains in regards to your Animal. Animal Divination

Or that Wolf, Coyote, Dog, and Jackal are so closely related that they can interbreed. In the Otter Family, Sea Otter is more sociable than European Otter, who is a loner. Learn the wisdom of the families of mammals and their members.

To say that your Sacred Spirit Animal is “Turtle” does a disservice for the individuals in the Turtle family. Snapping Turtles is aggressive when encountering a stranger, while Diamondback Terrapin has a mild disposition. Green Turtle is a seagoing turtle, while Red Eye Slider prefers to live in freshwater ponds. Therefore which turtle do you mean?
Since some characteristics pertain to the entire species, one can offer some generalizations about the group, for example, such as Snakes have no legs or that Turtles have shells. Therefore, study the family of these animals, as well the individuals of each group. However, bear in mind what most members of each group may have in common, some animals will not. For example, all Squirrels have bushy tails, but not all are as social as Prairie Dog, who lives in towns. Grey Squirrel prefers the company of a few Friends, while Cape Ground Squirrel lives in single-sex groups.
These courses will introduce you to the animals of the world. You will learn how animals relate to each other in their particular families. As you become familiar with each individual of a particular family, you will discover wisdom and healing from a wider range of animals than you previously thought.
Mammals, the Warm-Blooded Ones

Birds, the Winged Ones
(Second in a series of three classes. Open to all students.)
We watch birds ascend into the heavens and return bringing messages. We ask what does a Crow’s caw or a Woodpecker’s drumming mean? Is sighting Raven a good thing? Explore the world of Birds. Learn how Gull brings messages and how Ostrich act as a protector. Learn from Birds as diverse as Penguin of Antarctica and Emu of Australia. What you may discover will amaze you.
You will become more familiar with birds and their families. Explore the Crow (Corvid) family and see how each member, Raven, Crow, Magpie, and Jay define “crowness” in their own particular way. You will learn why different people regard the same bird differently. For the peoples of the Northwest of North America, Raven is a trickster, while for the Norse of Europe, Raven is a close companion of Odin, the All-Father. All this will enhance your own relationship with your Sacred Spirit Animal.

Reptiles, Insects, and Fish: the Cold-Blooded, Crawling, and Water Ones
(Third in a series of three classes. Open to all students.)
Feared by some and neglected by others, Reptiles, Insects, and Fish have much to offer people. Often thought as “shadow animals”, Spiders and Snakes can help deepen your understanding of yourself. Explore and learn from scrappy Bass, crafty Robber Fly, and sociable Red-Eye Slider Turtle. If you think that all turtles are alike, you will be surprised by the feistiness of Snapping Turtle and the strangeness of Snake-Necked Turtle. Embrace these animals as you would Birds and Mammals. Look for pleasant surprises from Gecko and Bumble Bee, and other of these animals.
