The closest relative to people, Chimpanzee (Hominidae troglodytes) shares familiar characteristics such as problem-solving abilities, parental care, and facial expressions. Of the few Animals that use tools, Chimpanzee uses sticks as weapons and to dig out contents of Insect’s nests. People can see themselves in her activities.
Residing in small stable troops of 40 to 60 animals, Chimpanzee lives in a strict social order. Within her Troop, She grooms her closest mate in rank. Hostile to other troops, Chimpanzee and her Friends will attack and drive Them off. More excitable than other Primates, She hoots and flails her arms and legs at Those who upset Her.
Chimpanzee will attempt to do new things. Even though She avoids large bodies of water, She will swim. When sick, Chimpanzee will seek out and eat certain plants to heal. Chewing a leaf, She uses it as a sponge. These are things that will help Her in her daily life.
Intelligent and lively, Chimpanzee is our closest relative. A social animal, She shows an ability to learn as well as to act instinctively. Chimpanzee is “Our Little Sister”. She is our shadow self, holding the hidden parts of our nature.

Note: Great Apes differ from Monkeys by being tailless, by having arms longer than their legs, and by being large. Their DNA is close to human, and they are classified with man (Hominidae).
