Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) is considered to be the true Salmon. Hardy and muscular, Atlantic salmon can jump higher than Her cousins, Pacific Salmon. Throughout the centuries, Atlantic Salmon has inspired human wonder. Even the cave people of Europe honored Her in their art. The Magna Carta of England granted Atlantic Salmon rights of protection.
Atlantic Salmon crosses the Atlantic Ocean to feed in the waters between Greenland and Canada. She stays there for a number of years before returning home to Europe to spawn. Using the earth's magnetic field to navigate, Atlantic Salmon swims from the Western Hemisphere to the Eastern Hemisphere. With Her keen sense of smell, She then finds Her home stream. Unlike Pacific Salmon, Atlantic Salmon lives to return for another journey.
Atlantic Salmon teaches the importance of returning home to help your family. However, do not let your family overwhelm so you that you fail to return to your mission in life.
