As members of the Parrot Family, Macaws are known for their colorful plumage and sociability. This has proven to be both an asset and a detriment. Uniquely adapted to life in the rainforest, the bright colors of the Macaws actually helps to conceal Them in bright sunlight. Living in large flocks, the older Macaws teach the younger ones how to look for food. Because people enjoy Macaws as pets, They are near extinction. Poachers hunt Them for the pet trade, often killing many Birds in the process.
However, these beautiful Birds are not without their defenses. Their beaks, used for cracking the toughest nut, will kill a dog. If danger threatens, Macaws will erupt in a noisy chorus of screeches. Wary of people, They will flee, screeching warnings to other Macaws.
Macaws teach balance in your life. Besides being able to perch using their long tails and feet, Macaws teach the more subtle aspects of balance. You can be colorful and stand out, but still be able to defend yourself. Study Macaw for all aspects of balance, both physical and spiritual.
Macaw’s Teachings Includes:
“The macaw teaches us to better understand others. They teach us the vices and the virtues of repeating gossip. They express innocence, vulnerability, strength, protection, faith, and trust. We can call on the Medicine of the macaw to better understand these qualities within ourselves as well as with others.” Copyright: Unknown.
“A symbol of the sun, the Macaw offers the chance to see every ending as an opportunity to start afresh. Macaw Dreaming nurtures us as we set about rebirthing our life.” Copyright: “Animal Messengers” by Scott Alexander King
