GREEN WOODPECKER

Use What You Have

green woodpecker on ground

Green Woodpecker can be found in places where mature trees grow and where Ant Colonies are plentiful. One of the favorite foods for Green Woodpecker is Ant. Once She finds a large Ant nest, Green Woodpecker tugs at the grass and digs a small hole with her long beak. As the Insects rush out, She licks Them up with her long tongue. She will feed on Ants for more than an hour.

This distinctive Woodpecker with her brilliant yellow color and bright red head is often mistaken for some rare tropical Bird. Found in Europe, She is a common breeding Bird there. What makes Green Woodpecker different from other Woodpeckers is “Yaffle”, her laugh. Instead of drumming, She laughs to tell everyone “I’m here.” In Great Britain, People often call Green Woodpecker, “Yaffle”.

What Green Woodpecker teaches is use what you have. Since her bill is weaker than other Woodpeckers, Green Woodpecker drills into softwood and lawns in search of food. She uses her voice for announcing herself. Green Woodpecker uses her bill to look for Ants in soft ground. Green Woodpecker does not bemoan the fact that She does not possess what other Woodpeckers have. Instead, She uses what She has. Learn how to live with what you have.
